So as the fuel pump deteriorates, it gets worse. A good vacuum fuel pump just works OK, with very little extra for a margin of fuel flow. So thusly, as you go faster there is less fuel pressure and less fuel flow. As the engine speed increases the vacuum decreases towards zero. So with a vacuum operated fuel pump the fuel pressure is about 1.5psi max at about 1800 to 2000 rpm. I found that the engine vacuum decreases as the engine speed and load (work) increases. Some of the chinese scoots with the 257linhai clone engine are being sold with the cf moto honda clone type carb with the clamp on type manifold. The linhai brand 260 scoots have a keihin y28v carb (copy of the teikei) but good luck finding the jets for that particular carb.
Those carbs are copies of Teikei Y28v as on the yamaha yp6, and are 30mm on the 257 linhai, if you have the bolt on type. So far I've had no luck finding a 42-46 pilot jet that will work. As far as jets go, good luck!!! I got a 132 main jet from bandit-motorsports, but it came out of a defective carb they had on the shelf. fuel line.I ordered one, and it was for 5/16 fuel line,and I couldn't use it,and stayed with my old one. If you order the fuel filter to go with it, make sure they have on for 1/4 in. They will give you the number of a local dist. I left that screw out and turned on the switch with the regulator in the lowest setting and adjusted the regulator up until I received good gas flow out of the drain. drain needle screw to drain all the gas from the carb. What I did was hook up the pump and regulator alone with a new fuel filter. Hopefully yours can and you won't need to spend the extra 29.00 for the regulator. One of the reasons I did not was that I already had a dedicated hot wire run to the front of my Bali to fix a signal light problem when the bike was new and I just spliced into that.Īs far as the pressure question, most carbs should be able to handle 4 psi, but some can't. I think I could have just hooked the pump to that same wire without problems. Especially since brake lights are only on during braking. I hooked my relay to the wire that feeds the brake light switch and since it's able to power the brake light bulbs, I doubt if the extra 1.6 amps would over power it. As for your question, It depends on which wire you hook to. I purchased mine at Advance for about 4.00 and I think it tested as. The horn/light relay uses almost no power to trigger. The 42s pump used 1.5 amps if I remember correct. I used the relay and regulator as noted above.
